Spiritual Cinema Circle
(September - May) from 6pm-8pm in the fellowship hall (lower parking level).
The Spiritual Cinema Circle - Trinity UCC is an adult gathering of spiritual seekers. We view and discuss films. Films include documentaries, lectures and youtube videos as well as feature films ranging from Hollywood productions to film festival award winners to low-budget short films. In other words, nothing is "off-limits," and all films have something of value to offer. WE DO NOT EDIT FILMS FOR LANGUAGE, VIOLENCE OR NUDITY.
Films we have recently viewed include The Education of Little Tree, Blink!, and Troubled Water. In the past year we've seen and discussed District 9, Black Water Elegy, Francesco (about St. Francis of Assisi), Lord, Save Us From Your Followers, Transamerica, Jesus Camp (an eye-opening documentary about fundamentalist Christians), Religious. One Youtube video we watched was Religion Comes from Ancient Astrology and Sun Worship. We also viewed a very stimulating debate between a Muslim cleric and an Atheist on the existence of God. We experimented watching one film with the sound turned off! From Plato's Allegory of the Cave to Chocolat, the films inspire us. Usually, they challenge our faith and disturb us into passionate thought and conversation.
Upcoming films on our list include The Fisher King, Slumdog Millionaire, Ulee's Gold, Life as a House, de Nadie, The Sweet Hereafter, Lone Star, Solitary Man. Our list is constantly changing, even from week to week. If someone has an idea, we usually try it! Come join us!
